"Not all pieces of furniture are the same, some reflect" (Marcel Proust)
Fondazione Mudima,
The exhibition suggests a special reading of artistically occupied spaces which give the opportunity to analize different position of contemporary women creators working in the space and with the space in very different manner, with very divers intentions and focuses. Their artistical praxis operates with completely different methods and preferences which interpret the space in socio cultural, anthropological, political contexts.
Spaces involved in their work are results both of plastical, architectural, physical and virtual digital processes where the imaginative, methaphorical, para-logical level of significance create new connections and new, efficient, vivid and vital constellations with elements of a large narrative focused on the act of taking space in order to re-define functionality and language.
The exhibition presents on the theme - Den Raum beleben - paradigmatical exemples by contemporary women artists who are working at different functional interpretation and very personal experiences of space has human, sociocultural context as well, as a field of possible interventions for creating new relations and new interferences. In this process the cultural tradition, memory, history, the conventional language system and the new, actual challenges, the human body and its energies create a new constellation in which mental, metaphysical, symbolical contexts are mixing up with concret, personal - and very often emotional - experiences of the micro - narrative.
The artists of the show developed special artistical engagement in the interpretation of functionality of space and its anthropological or political references. Taking space, taking ground, working at the cultural field stand in center of this exhibition.
Some of the artists are working with video and performance, where the efemer character, the vital utilisation of time and body, the enviroment and the immediate physical context determinate the artistical praxis.
Some other artists are working with the re-interpreted drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, where a certain kind of immediate presence of materials determinates the visual argumentation.
The rich heterogenity and linguistical poliphony of the proposed works corresponds with the real status of our contemporary sensibility and multi-identity as well, as it reflects the inevitable fatalistic-realistic approach of artistical commentars of micro-narratives of our days.
The exhibition suggest a non-hierarchical, intimate, personal, open, anti-monumental and sensity aesthetical attitude which seems to be poetically efficient and fruitful in the discours about competencies of art.
The exhibition is on the official catalogue of the 11.International Exhibition of Architecture -
The artists will be present at the opening..
